A-D Engineering Group Ltd. was founded by David Lehman, M.A.Sc., P.Eng. (Consulting Engineer) in 1986 as A-D Structural Engineering Group. It was re-established as A-D Engineering Group Ltd. in 1998.

David Lehman graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor and Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering in 1967 and 1968, respectively. Since then, he has accumulated a wealth of practical experience in the structural engineering and construction fields. He is currently licensed as a professional engineer in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
